And it's not just any episode, I might add. This is a very special one. Can you believe it's been five years since we launched this podcast? That's right. Today actually marks the five-year anniversary of the very first episode of the Author Revolution podcast, and I couldn't be more excited to reflect on how far we've come together. In fact, today's episode is a little walk down memory lane. We're going back to where it all began, to episode one, where I shared what I thought was the secret to success as an indie author. Spoiler alert I talked a lot about publishing more than one book and doing it imperfectly, and that advice still holds true. But wow, I have learned so much more since then. So stick around as we dive into what's changed, what stayed the same and, most importantly, what's coming next for you. Stick around as we dive into what's changed, what stayed the same and, most importantly, what's coming next for you and me as we continue on this author journey together. So let's rewind to October 29th 2019.

Speaker 1:

It was the very first episode of the Author Revolution podcast and I was so eager to share everything I knew about publishing. Back then, I talked about the need to publish multiple books to build momentum as an indie author, and I wasn't afraid to tell you to do it imperfectly. Why? Because I knew if you waited for the perfect moment or the perfect manuscript, you'd never publish. And for so many authors, that's still the thing holding them back. Perfectionism, right. If we don't know what we don't know and we continue to hold on to our work, we don't eventually expand our knowledge, expand our capacity to put things out into the world. And here's the thing the world of indie publishing has evolved, and so have we. The core message just start, just publish still rings true. But now, five years later, I've come to realize that there's so much more to this equation.

Speaker 1:

In that first episode I also talked about prepping, writing, editing, publishing and marketing your book. It was my introduction into the indie world. For you guys, it was a crash course in getting your books out there. And while those steps are still foundational they're absolutely what I teach inside of Rapid Release Roadmap, for instance I learned that they're just one part of the bigger picture. Now, what I didn't know back then or maybe I hadn't fully embraced yet was just how personal and unique the creative process is for all of us. Sure, those steps of publishing a book might be the same for everyone, but the way that we get there, that's wildly different from author to author.

Speaker 1:

I've had this incredible honor of working with hundreds of authors over the past five years, and here's what I've learned there is no one-size-fits-all approach to creativity, and anyone telling you that there is is lying. Some of us thrive on tight deadlines, while others need to let their stories simmer. I know I am definitely one of those. Even though I love my deadlines, I do I like to let my story, my creativity stuff, simmer. While some authors can crank out books at lightning speed I know a few of them off the top of my head Others need to be slower, more intentional with the process, to get their best work done and all of it is okay. So back in 2019, I might have put a little too much emphasis on speed, on getting that book out as quickly as you can, and while rapid releasing can still work for some, I've come to realize that it's just as important, if not more so, to honor your own creative process and to make sure that you are not dysregulating your nervous system, because the more we put ourselves into this, I'm not doing enough, I'm not working hard enough, I'm not getting there fast enough. We're dysregulating our nervous system, right, because our mind is in direct disagreement with the things that we're doing and everything gets jumbled up and it's no good.

Speaker 1:

However, if there's one thing that's been a consistent theme since that very first episode, it's mindset. I talked about it then and I still talk about it now, probably even more so now that we're talking about manifestation and we're getting into the subconscious mind. We're talking about quantum physics. I mean, there's so much, so much mindset. It's crazy. But it's funny to look back and realize that I was already planting those mindset seeds in episode one, even though I didn't fully grasp how crucial it would be to my journey and to yours. I mean, I knew to an extent, but I didn't. I didn't even have the pieces yet in place for manifestation, which is wild, because that's become such an important part of who I am and how I be right.

Speaker 1:

So over these five years, mindset has come up again and again and, like I just said, in different ways, whether it's dealing with imposter syndrome, pushing through self-doubt, staying motivated when the writing gets tough, or digging into your mindset work why things aren't manifesting the way that you want, or changing your mindset when it comes to what you get to do. Get to have Mindset just is truly the foundation of everything that we do as authors. It's what keeps us going through the rejections, the rough drafts, the long nights, the early mornings, and it's what helps us believe that what we're doing matters. And I think that part what we're doing matters is what's so important here. Our work, our creativity, it's not just a piece of us. We want to believe it impacts others.

Speaker 1:

You know, in looking back, one of the most exciting things for me is how the Author Revolution podcast has grown and evolved, and in those early days I wasn't quite sure who my audience would be. I was speaking to all authors and giving advice to anyone who wanted to learn about indie publishing, and while that was a great place to start, over the years I've gotten so much clearer about who I'm really here to help. And so today I'm speaking to you right, the authors who have grown with me, who have stuck with this journey, who are ready to expand even further. You're not just dipping your toes into the author world. You're committed and you've written books, maybe you've even published a few, but now you're ready to take things to that next level, wanting to refine your process, improve your marketing and, most importantly, build a sustainable author career. Now, sustainability was a big deal when I was trying to craft rapid release roadmap. There was a time where I was trying to teach authors how do you just rapid release? And it occurred to me in that process that I was doing a disservice If I was just going to teach authors how to rapid release period. I needed to teach them how to do it sustainably, and that's where rapid release roadmap really did come from.

Speaker 1:

So, as we move forward, I want to focus on that building a sustainable author career, building a place where we get to feel like we're in alignment with who we are and what we're trying to create. We're not just talking about how to publish a book. We're talking about how to create a career that lasts, and not just last for the sake of money last for our readers. I'm talking about last for us. That puts us in a place of power, puts us in a place of receptivity, puts us in a place of really enjoying what we're doing, like how to balance creativity with strategy, how to avoid burnout, how to truly enjoy everything that we do as an author so that we can manifest it faster, so that we can bring in this juicy good stuff quicker.

Speaker 1:

So what's next for this Author Revolution podcast? Well, it's kind of funny because there was a time not too long ago where I was really thinking maybe this should be the end of it, like maybe I've come as far as I need to when it comes to teaching, when it comes to doing this thing, because, to be perfectly honest, the Author Revolution podcast takes an awful lot of time. It takes some brain space and bandwidth, and I was trying to decide is it worth the effort of it versus what I want to be doing creatively? And for right now, I've decided that yes, it is that. Yes, I want to continue. I'm going to keep going and see how it works, and I think it's pretty fitting that we're celebrating this five-year milestone as I'm launching the revolutionaryary Authors Membership, because this membership, it's all about taking the next step right, offering you the tools, the strategies and the community that you need to succeed long-term. And this is not just about cranking out books as fast as possible. It's about building that career that's aligned with your creative flow, your goals and your life.

Speaker 1:

So, going forward. The episodes of this podcast are going to dive deeper into that journey, and it's going to dig deeper not only into the strategy side, but into the mindset and the manifestation side, and when I get closer to launching our new membership on how to do social selling, that'll also be a bigger component of it, because I think this is all coming to be this big, beautiful strategy of how we as authors, as creatives, can find our unique writing rhythm and build a business that supports our lives, not the other way around, right? So I want to thank you yes, I want to thank you for being a part of this journey, whether you've been here since the very beginning or you're just tuning in now. I am so freaking grateful for your support and for the incredible community that we've been building over these five years. I have so many wonderful people who are in my memberships, who are in my courses, who join our coaching calls, who join in on the masterclasses. I could not be more appreciative and grateful and so wowed by these people who are in it with me, who are trying to figure out what their journey looks like, what creativity looks like for them, what publishing gets to look like for them. So you guys. You are the reason I'm still doing this. You're the reason I'm still here, so thank you All right.

Speaker 1:

So as we wrap up this very special episode, I want to leave you with this the author revolution isn't just about publishing more books, right? Or hitting bestseller lists or becoming award-winning authors. All of that's great, right. It's a fabulous byproduct, but this is about you stepping into your power as a creative. It's about finding your voice, sharing your stories with the world and building a life around the passion that you have for your writing. Five years ago, I started this podcast with a vision, and that vision has evolved into something even greater than I could ever have imagined, and now I can't wait to see where the next five years takes us. So thank you for being a part of the Author Revolution. Here's to many more years of writing, creating and building author careers we love.
