Welcome to the Author Revolution Podcast. I'm Carissa Andrews, author and your host here to help indie authors like you master mindset, harness manifestation and embrace cutting-edge innovation to elevate your career. Let's dive in.
Carissa Andrews:Hey there, author friend, welcome back to the Author Revolution Podcast. Today's episode is going to hit a little differently, because we're not talking about marketing tactics, writing productivity or even publishing strategy. We're talking about something much, much deeper, something that might explain why, despite all your effort, your success doesn't seem to match what you've been putting out into the world. If you've ever found yourself thinking I've done everything I'm supposed to, so why am I still not seeing the financial success I imagined? Or how is it possible that I've created more than most authors do in a lifetime and I'm still not where I want to be? If those thoughts have cycled around, you're not alone. I've been there, in fact, I am there in many ways, and I want to tell you something radical today. You're not broken, you're not behind, and your manifestations haven't failed. You've simply been trying to build a revolutionary, soul-led career inside systems that were never designed for you to thrive in. This episode is about the disconnection between manifestation and output and the hidden cost of old systems that were built for extraction, not expression. We're going to unpack why that dissonance exists, how it's showing up in your author journey and what you can do about it moving forward, because this is the exact reason I created Write Frame of Mind and Write your Reality. They're two books that are part of my brand new Kickstarter campaign launching this month, and these books are about recalibrating your inner world so the outer results can finally match. So if you're ready to break free from the hamster wheel and start creating in a way that actually supports your nervous system, your values and your vision, this one's for you.
Carissa Andrews:So let's dive in. We're going to start with a big one. Okay, the myth that more output equals more success, and this is one that you know I've even fallen into the trap of, especially in the beginning of my author career, because, if you're anything like me, you've probably spent years absorbing the same messages we all have in the indie, author and online business spaces right, just write more books. Consistency is king. Success is a numbers game. Treat your author career like a business and the money will come.
Carissa Andrews:And for a while, maybe that felt motivating, strategic even, or doable, but at some point, you realized wait, I am doing all of that. You've launched the books, you've created the funnels, you've showed up on social, built the brand, you've even leaned into manifestation and mindset work right, and yet the results don't match the effort, not in your income, not in your reach, not in the felt success. So then you start to wonder, like, what's wrong with me? And that's where this toxic little myth starts doing real damage, because it makes your struggle feel like a personal failure. Maybe you're not cut out for this right, maybe you didn't hustle hard enough, maybe your energy isn't aligned enough. But here's the truth and I want you to hear it today and really really take it in. Okay, it's not you, it's the system you've been taught to succeed in.
Carissa Andrews:Now we've all been operating under this lie that success is linear, that if you keep going, keep showing up, keep pushing, the results will eventually catch up. But that logic only works when the system is built to reward non-linear, creative, intuitive people like us. And spoiler alert, it's not. It's built to reward repetition, predictability, conformity and speed. But your magic, your creativity, your nervous system, they don't work that way, they never have. And when you try to force yourself into that linear path, you don't just burn out, you disconnect from the very power that makes you magnetic in the first place. So if your manifestation isn't matching your output, maybe it's not because you're doing something wrong. Maybe it's because you're still trying to manifest results inside a structure that was never built for you to thrive in. And that's the real shift we're going to be talking about today, because once you see the system clearly, you can finally stop blaming yourself.
Carissa Andrews:So let's talk about the system itself, because when I say the system wasn't built for you, I'm not just talking about traditional publishing. I'm not just talking about Amazon algorithms or marketing models either. I'm talking about the entire energetic structure most of us have unconsciously built around our creative careers. It's a structure that values productivity over presence, perfection over process, visibility over vision, volume over value and, maybe most damaging of all, external validation over internal alignment. I feel that so deeply because there seems to be so much just go, go, go, but it's not even what we want to be creating right.
Carissa Andrews:And when we realize that we're trying to manifest within this system, even with the best intentions, we run into resistance because we know like, internally, we know we start using our manifestation tools like performance metrics. So journaling to get more money, for instance, visualizing to fix our results, affirming like it's a punishment I am successful, I am successful, I am successful while panicking inside right. And why do we do this? Because the system has trained us to earn our worth. Hear that again. This system, the way it's structured right now, has trained us to earn our worth, not just financially, but spiritually too. It says you can have what you want, but you have to prove you deserve it first. And that's not manifestation, that's hustle in disguise.
Carissa Andrews:And here's why it gets especially dangerous for neurodivergent or trauma-informed creators. We already have heightened sensitivity. We already carry the invisible labor of regulating our energy. So when we try to play by the rules of a system that thrives on output and urgency, we don't just feel tired, we feel like failures. The cost isn't just missed income, it's chronic burnout, shame cycles, creative blocks that aren't from lack of ideas but from nervous system collapse, believing we're too much or not enough, when really we're just too alive for a dead system. And most of us myself included here have spent years internalizing that dissonance instead of questioning the structure we're building inside of. But here's the good news Once you see the grid, or the matrix, for what it is, you can start to opt out.
Carissa Andrews:You can stop trying to fit in to succeed and start building a new foundation from the ground up, one that honors your energy, your truth and your capacity, one that lets success come from alignment, not exhaustion, and that's what we're going to talk about next. Okay, let's explore what it looks like to reclaim your path and what I've discovered through rebuilding my own over this past year. After you see the system, after you acknowledge the disconnect, after you stop blaming yourself, things start to shift, because here's the truth. This isn't about giving up. It's about reclaiming your path, reclaiming who you really are, remembering your power. Right, you're not here to fix yourself, to fit into the matrix. You're here to build something that has never existed before, a reality that actually honors your wiring, your creativity and your vision. And for authors like us, that reclaiming really starts by remembering this.
Carissa Andrews:You do not need to earn your worth. You don't need to force your creativity to make money. You don't need to prove anything to be taken seriously. Your job is to become the version of you that creates from wholeness, not desperation. That's where the real manifestation magic happens. Not from repeating affirmations or sticking to some perfect morning routine, but from repatterning your nervous system to feel safe while receiving more.
Carissa Andrews:Because, let's be honest, most of us aren't really afraid of failure. We wouldn't be outputting as many books as we are if that was the case. We're afraid of what will change if we succeed. We're afraid of being seen, of being resented, of being asked to do more than we can hold when we're already in this place of complete fracturization. Right, so we stay small and we overthink and we just need to fix one more thing before we launch or write the book or do the thing. But the truth is, the system that made you feel unsafe to be big isn't yours anymore. You don't have to keep carrying it, and that's something that has become so blaringly obvious to me in this past year.
Carissa Andrews:The new paradigm of author success isn't built on hustle. It's built on an energy of alignment and radical self-trust Self-trust in who you are as a creator. Self-trust in how you get to show up online. Self-trust into how you get to magnetize your readers. It's cyclical, not linear, and it's collaborative, not competitive. It's rooted in your truth, not someone else's blueprint.
Carissa Andrews:Okay, and that's super important to hear, because we have been following people online since the inception of indie authorship right, we have been following what everybody else is doing, thinking that's the way we're going to have to do it in order to be successful and, yes, you can still get to market your work right. Yes, you will still build your platform, but instead of following someone else, it comes from flow, not force. This is what I've been walking myself through for the past. Oh gosh, at least two years, right, since I started working with Shopify and moving everything out of exclusivity with Amazon. And it's what I now teach inside the two books I'm going to be releasing through Kickstarter, because reclaiming your path, it doesn't mean going at it alone. It means building a new map, and we can do that together.
Carissa Andrews:So let me tell you more about how these books came to be and why this Kickstarter is actually more than just a launch. It's a portal. It's a portal for us and I've realized it's even a portal for me, and it's something I have had to put on the back burner because the timing just didn't feel right. It didn't feel like the magnetism of it was ready, but it is now.
Carissa Andrews:So everything I've talked about today the burnout, the output to income mismatch, the frustration of doing everything right but still not feeling like it's working that's not just something I've observed in other authors. It's something I have personally lived. It's something that I have myself tried to overcome and try to intellectualize and try to figure out like what am I doing wrong? Because if I am in a place where reality molds to my understanding of it, that there is no insertion in this universe, it only is an experience of what we believe of ourselves, why would I be creating this right? It's why, after years of trying to reverse engineer success through strategies and I'm high strategic guys, remember that doing all the funnels and the launches I finally asked some different questions what if I'm not the problem? What if the system is? And that's funny because I've always been someone who's looked at the system for what it is like the political system, for instance. I've always seen through the mirage of it, the mask. But then I've also asked myself what if I could build a new system that actually works for me and for others like me? Well, obviously, I've gone down so many rabbit holes of manifestation and understanding not only the energetics of our subconscious, our body, but how to even get our nervous system back into alignment, how to be in flow with the quantum field. So that's where Write Frame of Mind for 2025 and Write your Reality came from. These are not just books. They're blueprints for a new way of being a writer, one that honors your body, your creativity, your energy and your nervous system. So the 2025 edition of Right Frame of Mind is the foundation. It's brand new.
Carissa Andrews:I am literally rewriting this book from the ground up, and so what it does is it helps you to clear imposter syndrome, but from a neurodivergent lens. Neurodivergence has been a big thing for me, understanding that I'm autistic and ADHD, so ADHD has really opened the door to so many things in understanding of myself and understanding of who I'm calling in. All of it, right, but it also helps you reclaim your creative identity, whether you're neurodivergent or neurotypical. It helps you to align your writing practice with your actual energy and capacity to output, and it helps you to move from self-doubt into self-trust. And that's one where I think, especially for neurodivergent authors and creatives and entrepreneurs like us, we struggle with it. Right, we struggle with self-trust because we have been told for years and years and years that we are too much, that we are too out there, that we are, I don't know, too intense. That's been a big one for me, and so it's time to embrace self-trust. We are put here on this planet at this time to be the next evolution and Write your Reality. Now is the expansion.
Carissa Andrews:That book teaches you how to use quantum manifestation tools tailored for authors, and it combines mindset, nervous system and energy work. It helps you to create a writing career that feels aligned, abundant and alive within this quantum field. It helps you to understand manifestation from a scientific perspective, why it works, how it works, and it helps you to manifest from your future self, not from fear, which is what the system wants us to create from right. It's why we find ourselves in these anxiety cycles and loops. It's why authorship has always felt off for many of us, like we are not all the same, and so trying to create our books and our launch schedules and all the things from the same blueprint that just doesn't make sense. So I'm launching both of these books through Kickstarter, not just because I want creative control but I do but because I also want to create a portal for other authors to enter this new paradigm with me.
Carissa Andrews:This isn't about chasing the algorithm anymore. It's about rewriting the story for all of us. So if today's episode resonated, if you're feeling that deep soul, yes, I want to invite you to check out the Kickstarter Now. Whether you're just starting out or you've been doing this for years, like me, these books are here to help you come home to yourself, your vision and your words. It's here to help you reimagine how your author career gets to be for you and help you to remember and realize that you already know the answers. You already have the clues. You're not broken. You're evolving and it's time your writing career evolved with you.
Carissa Andrews:So if you're feeling that disconnect between what you're creating and what you're receiving, if you've been questioning whether you're doing something wrong or wondering why the results haven't lined up yet, I want you to remember this You're just waking up to a system that was never designed to hold your magic. Okay, and that awakening it's not failure. It's really your initiation into something so much better. We are literally in a whole new world. We are reimagining everything right now. So your creative power doesn't belong to the hustle culture. That's a good thing, because it belongs to you, and if you're ready to claim it, to write from alignment, not exhaustion, I would love for you to join me in this next evolution. So head over to authorrevolutionorg forward slash Kickstarter to check out the Write Frame of Mind and Write your Reality campaign.
Carissa Andrews:Honestly it says Write your Reality, but it's. I never anticipated redoing from the ground up, write Frame of Mind, but I just felt called to reimagine how that book works for us, because of everything that I've learned over this past year specifically. So I would love for you to back it, to share it, or to just read through and feel what's possible when you stop forcing and start trusting. Okay, the revolution starts when you say yes to doing it differently. Think about that. Are you ready to do things differently, to look more closely at your heart's desires? I hope so. As always, my friend, enjoy the process, create from your heart and soul and go forth and start your author revolution. You.
